Welcome to the Residents ONLY
Portal. Only trainees in good standing registered in the current
academic year have access to this site. Trainees will be able to enter
until the end date reflected on their training card.
You now can login using your Minerva Username and PIN. If you have
forgotten your PIN, please go to the McGill Minerva-Student link which
is found at:
http://www.mcgill.ca/minerva-students/. Please note that any
information you enter into the Minerva system takes 24 hours to update,
as the information is "pushed" from the data entry screens overnight.

To update your mailing and e-mail addresses, please go to the McGill
Minerva-Student link which is found at:
http://www.mcgill.ca/minerva-students/. Please note that any

We will be creating specialty-specific listservs and will be using the
McGill mail address. Please ensure you have configured your e-mail
correctly so that you can receive important messages from your Program
Director, from the FMRQ and from the Faculty.
General Information

Training Card:
Please note that trainees (except for pure Research Fellows) are
required to reapply for their training card each and every academic
year from the
Collège des médecins du Québec.

McGill ID card:
For
Newcomers to obtain your McGill ID card, please consult our McGill
ID section by clicking
here.

Letter of Standing:
Trainees who are in good standing (ie who hold a training card
(if applicable), are registered and have no outstanding fees)
will be able to generate a Letter of Standing for an academic year,
starting June 15 of one year. If you are not able to generate a
letter of standing, first please ensure you meet the above
conditions. If a problem persists, please contact the
Residency Coordinator responsible for your program.
**Please note that PGME letters of standing are not valid for
maintaining interest-free status with Aide financière aux études. For
details, contact the Scholarships and Student Aid Office at
514.398.6015.

here): Your base hospital has asked McGill University to
assist in collecting this important document. Responsibility for
interpreting the medical data resides with the hospital. Returning
trainees who have already completed the process only need to fill out
the "TB" section and then to submit the form to their base hospital.
This is required of all McGill Residents and Clinical Fellows yearly in
order to be in good standing and registered, but also
in order to commence work and be paid.

Registration for Residents and Fellows for the 2011-2012 academic year
is open from May 16 to June 15, 2011.
Steps to register:
1) Go to the Residents Only
portal:
http://www.medicine.mcgill.ca/postgrad/residentsonly.htm and then
click on Login here through Banner “Sign in”.
2) Select the McGill Registration function (last one on the
list). Read the “Consent to the Release of Personal Information” text
and click “I agree” at the bottom of the page.
3) The screen shows your name, program, start date for 2011-2012, the
number of weeks for which you need to be registered, and the CRN (Course
Reference Number) pertaining to your registration. Write down your
start date and CRN as you will need them to register.
4) In the same screen, click on the Minerva Registration link.
This will open a new window and will bring you to a McGill Minerva login
page.
5) Enter your 9-digit McGill ID number and 6-character PIN
and click Login (contact the Minerva Help Line at 514-398-7878 if
you experience login problems).
6) At the top of the Minerva screen, select the Student Menu tab,
and then Registration Menu.
7) Go straight to “Quick Add or Drop Course Sections” under “Step 2” and
use the CRN provided to you via the Residents Only portal.
• Select the FALL 2011 term (yes FALL 2011 AND NOT SUMMER 2011).
• Enter your CRN in the Quick Add box and then click “Submit Changes”.
• In order to complete your registration, you will be prompted to enter
your start date.
8) Once you are registered, in your Minerva registration menu you will
see the course appear with a status of “webregistered” and the date
registered.
9) Once you have completed the registration steps, select the
Personal Menu tab at the top of the Minerva screen.
10) Update any information which is incorrect (e.g. home address).
Please note that you must indicate a current address in Minerva. You may
maintain your permanent address and also insert a local address by
selecting “mailing address”.
Please note that if you have any "holds" you need to clear these in
order to be able to register. Please follow the instructions in the
Minerva Registration menu in order to be in good standing with the
university and to be able to register yourself.
Residents and Fellows are able to work and be paid once they have
completed the following:

Have
registered via Minerva.

Have
obtained a training card:

completed and returned the Immunization Record to their base
hospital (to open form in PDF format,
click here).

And,
if applicable, have a valid work permit (please check the
expiry date on your work permit. If it expires in the next
three months, you are required to obtain a new work permit. We may already
have been in contact with you. If you have not submitted the required
documents please email the Student Affairs Administrator as soon as
possible at
pgregistration.med@mcgill.ca).
