Post Graduate Medical Education Core Courses 2012-2013

The Faculty of Medicine, Postgraduate Medical Education office, organizes a series of seminars (lectures and workshops) for residents and clinical fellows on selected topics such as the CanMEDS roles (medical expert, communicator, collaborator, manager, health care advocate, scholar, and professional) and other related medical topics.  These courses are faculty-wide educational initiatives for residents and fellows. Residents who complete the session will receive a McGill University, Post Graduate Medical Education certificate.

        Fall 2012

• Conflict Resolution Workshop  (1/2 day session: for all PGY levels and specialities)

Course Description: During this half-day, the resident will learn different approaches to addressing and resolving conflicts. During the workshop portion, residents will have the opportunity to apply these principles to their own context.

• CMPA Seminar  (1/2 day session: for all PGY levels and specialties)

  Course Description: The Canadian Medical Protective Association provides a three-hour case-based interactive session on legal aspects of medical practice.

• Professionalism Seminar (1/2 day session: for all PGY levels and specialties)

  Time: 1:00pm - 5:00pm
  Location: Simulation Centre
  Course Description: This session will enable residents to identify the attributes of professionalism; social contract between physician/society and describe how the McGill Code of Conduct fits into concepts of professionalism. The session will consist of lectures and scenarios.
