Identity Cards
It is essential for all McGill registered
residents and fellows to obtain both a McGill ID card as well as a
hospital ID card.
McGill student ID card:
Once you have registered via Minerva,
you can get your student card at the McGill Service Point, located at
3415 McTavish Street (corner Sherbrooke), Montreal, QC H3A 1Y1. For more
information, including office hours and telephone number, please see:
http://www.mcgill.ca/students/servicepoint/.
Please note that you
must wait 24 hours following registration to get your student ID card. All residents and fellows must bring two (2) pieces of
official government identification with them.
Proof of citizenship for Canadians, proof
of landing for permanent residents of Canada, or a valid CAQ, Job
Validation letter and work permit, together with the Permanent Code Data
Form, are required in order to finalize registration and obtain a McGill
I.D. card. Please submit these required documents to the office of
the Associate Dean for Postgraduate Medical Education for processing
prior to the start of the academic year.
Your student ID card gives you access to
essential services on campus including library, labs, athletics, some
residences and cafeterias.
Hospital ID card:
Hospital ID cards are issued by your
base hospital as follows: the MUHC will issue these to trainees based MUHC. The JGH,
SMH, DH
and CVO each issue their own ID cards. Trainees
cross-covering at the JGH can obtain an ID card upon presentation of
their training card, as proof of cross-coverage.
It is mandatory for all residents and
fellows to wear their hospital identity card for identification while
training in the hospital.
