Vascular Surgery
The McGill Vascular Surgery training program
is an integrated program based at the Royal Victoria and Sir Mortimer B.
Davis - Jewish General Hospitals. It is a two-year program
designed to fulfill the Royal College requirements to obtain a
Certificate of Special Competence in Vascular Surgery
Applicants must have completed their
residency training in General Surgery, Cardiac Surgery, Thoracic
Surgery or Cardiothoracic Surgery. The program provides a large volume
of clinical experience in the management of the entire spectrum of
vascular surgical diseases, both operative and nonoperative. It
includes experience in the noninvasive vascular assessment, endovascular
treatment of some vascular conditions, outpatient clinics, critical
care, and emergency care.
The trainee must spend at least 15 months
as chief resident on a Vascular Surgery clinical service. The
additional time may be spent in research, in the Non-invasive Vascular
Laboratory, and in Vascular Radiology.
