Gynecologic Oncology
Fully trained gynecologists may apply to
this program. Previous experience in gynecologic oncology is an asset.
One candidature is accepted per year. The program, which has been
approved by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, is
designed as a two-year integrated experience leading to expertise in
Gynecologic Oncology. Fellows train at the McGill University Health
Centre hospitals: The Royal Victoria Hospital and the Montreal General
Hospital, as well as the Jewish General Hospital.
Fellows perform their duties and accept
responsibilities under supervision. At the end of the training, fellows
should achieve competency in the full range of gynecologic oncology
procedures including minimal access procedures. Research is an integral
part of the fellowship. Fellows are expected to present their work at a
National or International Scientific Meeting and publish their work in a
peer-reviewed journal. Through¬out the program, fellows are expected to
participate in the teaching of medical students, residents, general
gynecologists and other health care professionals.
